Day 7

The windows are in! Jermaine from Winshield Repair/Replacement came out at 10 o'clock this morning and spent half the day installing our new Lexan panes and rubber gaskets. Windows in, and jacks level, The Manor feels more like home.

Day 6

Gave her a much needed and well deserved bath! Began with a scrub brush and soapy water, but quickly upgraded to a pressure washer. Continued working on the body, hammering out dents, and removing bond-o (which can be done with Dads Easy Spray). The pressure washing also helped remove some of the left-over paint on the exterior. Again, Dads Easy Spray finished the job.

Day 5

Bought an inexpensive dent-repair kit and experimented with working on some of The Spartan's minor injuries. With a little persistence and finesse, it can be done.

Day 4

Rain. All day. We taped plastic over the front windows to keep the moisture down and bought 4, 6-ton, leveling jacks to deter water from draining and pooling in the back. A good investment for the future as well. Discovered several leaky seams in the aluminum, but she needs to be marine-caulked to ensure complete insulation anyway. On the up-side, all three of the ceiling vents appear to be dry as bone after 8+ hours of solid rain.

Day 3

Cleared out the rest of the interior pieces and discovered original aluminum screens and window trim. Also mapped out a tentative floor-plan. Marvelous things are on the horizon!

Today we carefully took out most of the original wood (some Mahogany) pieces from inside the Manor and stored them away from the elements. After sweeping the floor she was already looking better. We had the pleasure of discovering two original mirrors completely intact as well as all the pieces for the front windows and some cabinetry that had a lot of potential for restoration.
